Between the 19th and 24th of March, two teachers and four students from Escola Básica com Pre-School Bartolomeu Perestrelo participated in the fourth mobility of the STORM project – Smart Teens, One Ready Mission), which took place in Turkey, in the city of Izmir. This European project, which includes the countries of Turkey, Sweden, Germany, Iceland, Romania and Portugal, aims to raise awareness of the effects of global warming, climate change and the need to make cities greener and more environmentally friendly. Participants visited the host school “Halit Ozpirinc Anadolu Lisesie”, where they were able to present the work previously prepared within the scope of the previously mentioned themes. They also presented videos, in the form of documentaries, about the regions where they live and what is being done in terms of nature preservation, ecology and industry. During their stay in Turkey, they had the opportunity to visit Kemeralti, where the historic market (Bazaar) of Izmir is located. They also passed through Ephesus, an ancient city considered the “Turkish jewel”, which houses in its surroundings the house where the Virgin Mary lived, and also through the city of Seferihisar, which is part of the “Cittaslow Life” project, a movement that seeks to reduce speed of life in cities, to improve the quality of the people who live in them.
