Starting this Monday, a mini climate summit will begin at Escola Básica Escola Bartolomeu, until January 26th. According to a press release sent by the educational establishment, teachers and students from Germany, Sweden, Romania, Iceland, Turkey and Madeira - Portugal are present to attend several conferences on “Climate change” - Climate change; “Marine Litter: a global problem” - Marine litter: a global problem; to debate these priority themes, and others, such as: solar panels, wind turbines and smart cities. Throughout the week, work will be carried out in accordance with the themes of Climate Change. Likewise, works that promote and disseminate an Action Plan for all citizens, an Environmental Awareness Alert, will be presented and posted. “With a very broad program, the aim is to move from “If... to Action”, reflect, debate, raise awareness about the Danger of Doing Nothing; on Prevention; about staying safe in a constantly changing environment”, the note reads. “The Bartolomeu Perestrelo school went from “If… to Action”. All of these themes are extremely relevant for the entire School Community. This mini-summit provides guidance, decisions and knowledge so that we can act, without excuses. The teachers and students involved at the Bartolomeu Perestrelo school will publicize the events, actions, the various areas of activity, the projects, the partnerships that make this school and this territory unique.” The school also states that STORM – Erasmus teachers and students will visit the following places: Quinta do Monte; Self-sustainable Farm; Quinta do Furão; Ponta de São Lourenço Natural Reserve and Garajau Partial Natural Reserve. They will carry out nautical activities, have contact with the Heritage of Funchal and finally walk in the Laurissilva Forest – UNESCO Natural Heritage. “This algorithm is intended to reach all Madeiran, Azorean, continental, German, Swedish, Romanian, Icelandic and Turkish citizens.
